Whistleblowers, journalists, and other truthtellers have been essential to our democracy, exposing government abuses of our rights.
Yet, the United States government has treated brave whistleblowers, like Edward Snowden who exposed unconstitutional surveillance, as spies, charging them under the draconian Espionage Act. And now the US government has gone a step further, seeking the extradition of Australian publisher Julian Assange for publishing information about US war crimes.
Julian Assange and Daniel Hale are facing prosecution, Reality Winner and Terry Alburry are in prison, and Edward Snowden is living in exile, all for the crime of exposing official misconduct.
This cannot stand.
Please join us in a mobilization for freedom and for human rights and in defense of those who tell the truth.
Tell Trump to Pardon Brave Whistleblowers!
Presidents, in their last days in office, traditionally pardon or commute the sentences of many people. Obama, in one of his final acts, commuted the sentence of whistleblower Chelsea Manning.
We need you to call on Donald Trump to pardon all those indicted or convicted under the Espionage Act for giving information to the media about abuses of power for publishing information about those abuses!
