The Constitution and the War Powers Act give Congress, not the President, the power to declare war. Tell your Senators to reclaim this power by prohibiting unauthorized US military action in Yemen.
Senators Sanders, Leahy, and Warren introduced a joint resolution in the Senate to direct the removal of U.S. Armed Forces from unauthorized involvement in the war between the Saudi-led coalition and the Houthis in Yemen. The resolution, which is supported by a bipartisan group of more than 100 members of Congress in the House, is considered privileged in the Senate.
This week, the Senate will vote on this vital resolution.
Along with over 100 other civil society organizations, DRAD asked Congress to end the United States’ unconstitutional involvement in this war. Groups ranging from civil libertarians to anti-imperialists to humanitarians oppose ongoing American involvement in this deepening crisis.
